April Market Information 

With spring finally here bringing about longer days and milder temperatures, new lines arrive thick and fast as the weather gets warmer. 
At the start of April, key English lines include British Asparagus, wild garlic and Jersey Royal potatoes (available in Mids and ware grades. 
Of course, British Heritage tomato also starting by the middle of the month a long with many British salad crops.

Further British lines for April include kales, cabbages, cauliflowers, parsnips, swedes, beetroot and the first salad crops such as heritage tomatoes and cucumbers, grown in heated greenhouses. Also Jerusalem artichokes and purple sprouting Broccoli definitely a good call at this time of year.

As we approach early spring we find ourselves in the "hungry gap". This is the leanest period in the farming calendar 
from late March to May, when the winter crops are coming to an end and the new-season crops are still busily growing, 
leaving very little available to harvest. Leafy greens are our mainstay in the spring months.

Quick Notes: 

Starting in early spring, many colourful fruits and veggies (finally!) hit the market. 
UK Asparagus Start, really weather depending at the beginning of the month, short season of 8-10 weeks. 
UK Rainbow/ Swiss Chard both varieties available. 
UK New Potatoes, new crop to start with from Cornwall. 
UK Strawberries, by the end of the month will be able to enjoy the first pick from Staffordshire Strawberry. 
UK Early Start on Broad Beans and Fresh Peas By the end of the month, Italian and Spanish are both available

UK Jerusalem Chokes, Beetroot, Cabbages, Parsnips, Outdoor Rhubarb, Radishes and Spring Green 
Also, Celeriac, swede, Cauliflower, Onion Wild Garlic and Nettles. 
 
 

End of Season: 

UK Carrots, Turnips, Savoy Cabbage, Salsify, Leeks, Carrots, Curley Kale, wild garlic by the end of the month.
